The Martha Washington, a 58,000 sf building constructed in 1923, underwent a historic renovation to provide a mix of 108 studio and 1-bedroom affordable housing units. Of these units, 50 operate as Permanent Supportive Housing which serves the homeless and chronically mentally ill populations. The project received LEED Silver certification. While focusing on sustainable and extremely durable materials, we developed the interior finishes and furniture selection in keeping with the historical nature of the project. As an example, marmoleum tile was selected for the lobby, corridor, and unit flooring so that if tiles become damaged and beyond repair, they could be easily replaced.
