Open in Fall, 2009, HEDCO Education Building and College of Education Complex includes a new 65,000 square foot building along with major renovations to four existing buildings, including two designed by Ellis F. Lawrence, to create a state-of-the-art education complex focusing on both clinical and academic teaching as well as research, technology-rich classrooms, clinics, an instructional design resource center and meeting spaces, distance learning and other specialized teaching spaces. Particular attention was paid to the various public spaces, including the Learning Commons, the Research Hub, and ancillary lounge areas, which offer many opportunities for collaboration and serendipitous learning. Furniture was used to support a highly interactive, flexible, and accessible learning environment.
